PERSONAL.
Mr. McKibbin, the present Mayor of Woodville, will saxe up his residence at the Lower Hutt in April. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kennedy and Miss Fitzgerald (Wellington) are on a visit to Napier. Mr. J. Read left Hastings this morning to spend a holiday in Palmerston North and Wellington. Mrs. Little, graphiologist, is staying at the George Hotel, Hastings, during the next few days. Mr. H. Hayward, of moving picture fame, was a passenger for the South by this morning’s mail train.
The Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout, arrived in town on Saturday, and will preside at the Supreme Court to-morrow.
Mr. D. G. Stewart, auctioneer for Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Wairoa, is at present bn a visit to Napier.
Mr. and Mrs. Roe and Mr. and Mrs. Fuller, English tourists, are at present in Napier. They proceed later to Taupo. Mr. Martin Kennedy and the Misses Kennedy, of Wellington, have been on a visit to Very Rev. Father Keogh, of Hastings. The Hon. Dr. Findlay, Minister for Justice and Attorney-General, gave an address at Whangar:-i on Saturday night. lie returns to Auckland on Wednesday or Tlrirs day next. Mr. Walter Nicholson, of the staff of Messrs. Kennedy, Lusk and Marling, was this morning introduced to his Honor the Chief Justice by Mr. Lusk, and formally admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court.
The Hon. Geo. Fowlds, Minister for Education, was the guest of Mr. Robert McNab during his stay at Palmerston North last week. He left Palmerston for Wellington on Friday.
* Mr. Robert McNab is a candidate for the vacancy on the Palmerston North High School Board of Governors. One other candidate, Mr. Durward, contests the vacancy with Mr. McNab, and the election takes place on Wednesday next. Mr. Leo. Burns left Hastings this morning for Wellington to resume duty at the Telegraph Office. Mr. Burns has been attached to the Hastings office for the past six months, having effected an exchange with one of the local telegraphists. Mr. Solomon, the well-known Dunedin K.C., spent the week-end in Napier. He is accompanied byMrs. Solomon and Miss Altson,' of Yesterday they visited Hastings as the guests of Dr. and Mrs. Macdonell. Mr. Soloman speaks in glowing terms of the beauties and possibilities of Hawke’s Bay. On Saturday night the death occurred of Mr. John Christy, a veryold resident of Napier* after a severe illness. Deceased has lived at Napier for 31 years, and was well known to the townspeople. He was a native, of County Antrim, Ireland. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
