A petition is being circulated for signature, under the care of Mr. L. W. Fowler, urging the Railway Department to open the Eastbourne street crossing, Hastings, for vehicular traffic.
It was freely said last night that there was a decided improvement in the playing of the Hastings Town Band. This must be most gratifying to all concerned, especially the new conductor.
Master Launcelot Rogers, son of Mr. E. A. Rogers, of Hastings, has receivetl word that he has been successful in passing his Senior Civil Service exam.

Last night at the St. Matthew’s Church. Hastings, the Bishop held the Confirmation service, and 38 condidates were admitted. After . the opening part of the service, the • Bishop gave an introductory adI dress, and after the confirmation he gave a very impressive address, : taking for his text “The Body of the Temple of the Holy Ghost.” ! After the service five members were admitted to the Church of England ■ Men’s Society.
