YOUNG WIFE’S SUICIDE. SAD AFFAIR AT LOWER HUTT. Wellington, Feb. 11. The dead body of Mary Purdy, of Lower Hutt, was found in a shallow pail of the river close to her family’s residence this morning. She was missed about breakfast time, and on search being made her body was found in the river. LATER.

Mrs. Purdy left a note on the dining-room table saying “I am in the river at the back. God help you. mother She went to bed at midnight, and was then in good health. She was missed by her husband at 5.30 this morning. The body was lying in nine inches of water, clothed only in her nightdress. Her wrapper and slippers were found on the bank higher up stream. Deceased only returned from Australia ten days ago.
