GALE AT GISBORNE.
’ VESSELS SHELTERING. Iper press association.l Gisborne, Feb. 11. A gale is blowing, with heavy sea along the coast. Several vessels have been sheltering. The steamer Squall made three attempts to round East Cape from the North, but had to return. Seas were sweeping her decks on the last occasion when she got as fa: as AwanuL The auxiliary schooner Magic from Wellington to Gisborne, had to run before the gale last Saturday and also jettison some of the cargo of sewerage pines. Oil bags were used during the storm. The Magic got round East Cape and is still sheltering. The steamer Ruru and the Fanny arrived last night from Teararoa. where they had been sheltering.
