Mrs. E. H. Cotterill, exemption from personal residence on o.r.p. 254, section 4, block XV., Hikurangi.—Granted. Trustees of the late L. E. Under-Secretary for Lands, replying to the Land Board’s recommendation “ that a certain sum be appropriated from the Consolidated Fund for the improvement of Pourerere Settlement” cannot be acceded to, and suggesting that the best way out of the difficulty would be for the lessees to surrender their several holdings. Mr. Lane held that the reply was not at all satisfactory, and he did not wish it received. It was a reflection on the Under-Secretary as a member of the Land Purchase Board. No letter from the Board should have been before the Minister for Lands. Eventually it was decided, on the motion of Mr. Groom, to receive the letter.
W. E. Akroyd, leave of absence from attending meeting of Land Board.—Granted.
G. G. and W. G. Stead, application to subdivide Pastoral Run No. 12, Ngaruroro.—Granted. Crown Lands Ranger’s report on D. J. Wardell’s application to be allowed to surrender or transfer R.L.S. 130, Section 6, Block 1., Tongoio Settlement. The Ranger reported that improvements were slightly deficient. (Left sitting.)
