DANGEROUS PRACTISE.

Thomas Donald was charged with driving a vehicle in Heretaunga street, Hastings, un January 25, without sufficient headlights. Constable Dwyer gave evidence to the effect that the offence took place at 7.40 p.m. The Bench considered that as it could not have been very dark at that hour, they should deal leniently with defendant. Detective Butler: There is no evidence to that effect your Worship. I was with the constable when Donald was accosted in the street, and it was quite dark. Fined 2/6, with 7/- costs. DRUNKENNESS.

i Two first offenders were mulcted f in a penalty of 20/- for drunkenness, | with a default of 24 hours’. | CIVIL CASES.
