NATIONAL PROVIDENT FUND
INITIATORY STEPS.
The enrolment of contributors to the National Provident Fund will commence on March 1, the Prime Minister having approved of the preliminary steps which have been [ taken to bring the annuity, disaj bility, and maternity benefits be- ! fore the notice of the public. A | concisely-worded poster has been j prepared for exhibition in railway stations and post offices, and particulars of the benefits and the contributions required to secure them will probably be shown. Leaflets will also be distributed widely, setting out the leading features of the scheme, and it is intended to make a special effort to enlist the cooperation of employers, a scheme being in hand under which the contributions of employees may be deducted regularly from their wages and remitted to the National Provident Fund without expense to the contributor, who will obtain a regular statement of his position on the books as a check upon the collecting system. This system of de- , duction from salary is applied 'n connection with the Public service, Railway, and Post Office Superan-
nuation Funds with complete satisfaction to members. The first meeting of the National Provident Fund Board, of which the Prime Minister is chairman, will take place on February 16th.
