[ Mr. Lavery, solicitor, of Carter- ‘ ton, is visiting Napier. Mrs. H. A. E. Hurley is spending , a holiday in Wellington. Mr. E. A. Westerman left Hast- > ings by this morning’s express for ; Wellington.
Very Rev. Father Keogh returned to Hastings to-day. Father Kerley will arrive home this evening. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. B. Munro. Hatuma. are at present in Napier and are staying at the Caledonian Hotel. Mr. G. Farrell, touring manager for Mr. J. €’. Williamson, is in Napier and Hastings, arranging for the season of the Katherine Grey Company. The Principal of the Napier Boys’ High School, Mr. A. S. M. Polson, with Mrs. Polson and family, have > returned to Napier. The school: will re-open on Wednesday. Canon Ivens, one of the Anglican missioners who recently visited New Zealand, and was appointed vicar of St. Mary’s New Plymouth, has cabled from Home withdrawing his acceptance. Mr. and Mrs. A. Carn cross left
Hastings by the mail train this morning for Palmerston North and the Taranaki district, where they spend a holiday previous to taking up their residence in Auckland. Mr. A. Wade, vice-president of the Grand Lodge of the Ancient Order of Druids, and Mr. F. W. Anthony, secretary of the Hastings branch, left Hastings by the mail train this morning for Auckland, to attend the annua] meeting of the Grand Lodge. Mr. T. F. Taylor, the successful condidate at the recent Napier Borough Council by-election, was entertained by his friends ami supporters yesterday evening. A very pleasant gathering was held and speakers expressed confidence that the Borough hail secured the ser vices of a real live man.
