AUCKLAND v. CANTERBURY.] CANTERBURY ON A SOFT WICKET. Auvk'and, Jan. 30. The weather is threatening for the secund day of the Plunket Shield match. Canterbury v. Auckland. Canterbury went in on a wicket which was soft from the rainfall during the night, and at the outset in favour of the bowlers. Caygill and Norman started batting to the bowling of Pierce ami Kerr for several overs. The batsmen made no attempt at aggressive play, the bowling being dangerous.
