GODFREY v. H.B. MEAT CURING COMPANY.

On resuming after lunch, Godfrey continued his evidence detailing the efforts he had made to secure a settlement. He had interviewed Miller and the manager, also Mr. Cartwright Brown, and attended a meeting of directors but could not obtain payment. J. A. Miller said he was secretary of the H.B. Meat Curing Co. Plaintiff made no application for shares that he had seen. Short and Murray made application but these applications were never brought before the directors. They had no shareholders that had npt paid cash value. Wilson got the men to sign the application forms but the directors had nothing to do with it whatever. Godfrey had signed the wages book for his pay with the deductions shown. The man xvas only on by the day ano. deductions xvere for days when no work xvas done. After consultation with Matson he offered plaintiff £214 - for deductions and £2/10in lieu of a week’s notice. God frey refused to allow Inspect©; Gohns to arbitrate. William W’atson, works manage; for the H.B. Meat Curing Com pany. said Godfrey xvas not en titled to have the deductions ir wages made up to him. He hac not discussed applications for shares xvith either Godfrey, Shora or Murray. He did not do anyibing about Wilson’s efforts to get rhe men to become shareholders. After counsel had briefly addres sed the Court His M orship deliver ed judgment. He held that plain tiff had failed t<> establish a contract for the issue of shares. Hr held that ihe plaintiff had established a claim for the £7. 10 - foi xvages due and judgment would b< given accordingly.
