HASTINGS BRANCH.
i The quarterly meeting of the Hastings Branch of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union was held last night in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Hastings. Air A. Afasters presided over an attendance of about 20 members. POOLING ORDERS FOR REQUISITES. After the routine business had been transacted, the chairman brought up the matter of pooling orders for farmers’ requisites. This matter had been discussed at a former meeting, when it was decided to let it stand over until the quarterly meeting. Air. Alastcr.s stated that several other branches of the union had tried the system, which hud met with success. Air. Cartright Brown said that recently he hud had a talk with a friend in another district, and he stated that through indenting a certain class of manure through a large firm of merchants, he had got it at a considerably less price than the then ruling market price. This went to shaw that some of the larger firms were willing to indent j large orders for fanners. He was i perfectly sure that should the union ; decide to pool orders, they would ! meet vzith success. i On the motion of Air. S. Chambers, a sub-committee, consisting lof Afessrs. Brown, Alasters and Chiambers was appointed to go into the matter regarding pooling orders, and also to have power to act.
