SWIMMING.
H.B. CENTRE’S SPORTS AT HASTINGS. There was an exceptionally large number of people present at the Maddison Baths. Hastings, last night to witness the sports held under the auspices of the H.B. Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association. The fields were large in most of the events. The handicappers deser.e a word of praise for the manner in which they allotted the starts. In most of the races the finishes were very close. In the semi-final of the 25 yards dash there was not two seconds difference between the first anti last man. There were six starters in this heat.
