CHILD FATALLY SCALDED
Auckland. Jan. 16. ‘ Hilton Sergeant, three years old. ; whose parents reside at Ponsonby. ' died to-day as. the result of scalds I received on Saturday. The child 1 fell into a tub of hot water while j the father was preparing the bath for it.
SHIFT BOSS KILLED.
Waihi. Jan. 16.
A married man named Andrew
Anderson, sli’ft boss in the Grand 'Junction mine, was killed this morning by a fall of quartz in one of the stopes in the mine. He was alone at the time of the accident, i The miners working further along the stope weie apprised that someiking was wrong by thy air being cut off. and on an investigation ; the* came across the fall of quartz, .-.nd on searching found the body of 'deceased. Life was extinct.
A HERO’S DEATH.
