NAPIER CLUB.
The four-oared races for the Wynyard trophies were held by the Napier Rowing Club on Saturday afternoon.
The first heat between Lang and Cordingly was won by the latter after a good race.
Woon and Hay rowed a ding dong go” for the second heat, the former winning by half a length. Puflett, Brewer and Martin faced the starter in the third heat. Although Puflett got a bad start, he quickly drew to the front and won in comparative ease, Brewer second.
The final between Puflett, Cordingly and Woon was rowed in choppy water and resulted in a win for Puflett by two lengths, Cordingly second. The winning crew was composed of R. Puflett (stroke), Robt. Cassidy (3), W. H. K. Gilmour (2), M. Stock (bow), and C. Gardiner (cox).
McMILLAN HANDICAP. f The following is the draw for heats and positions for the McMillan handicap sculls, the first two heats of which are to be rowed thia evening:—Natusch (25secs), v. A. D. Brown (scr); Holland (25secsX v. Robt. Cassidy (23secs); J. A. L. Hay (Bsecs) v. R. Puflett (25secs); C. Brown (25secs) v. J. Shirley (32 secs); Stack (28secs) v. Heath (18 secs); Lang (25secs) v. Myhill (32 secs); Gilmour (40secs) a bye. Regatta crews have now been selected as follows:— Junior and Senior Fours.— J. A. L. Hay, Lang, Martin, Cordingly. Maiden Fours.—W. C. Prime, H. Smith, R. Uuflett, Robt. Cassidy. Ten-stone Fours.—Brewer, Shirley, Stack, Anderson. Youths’ Fours.—Burns, McCarthy, Edwards, Spriggs. Junior Pairs.—Hay, Lang. Maiden Fours.—Puflett, Cassidy.
