N.Z. LABOUR LAWS.
MR. BEERY S APPRECIATION
(Received 12, 10.25 a.m.) Sydney, Jan. 12. Mr. Beeby does not agree with ' the statement that a couple of decades of labour legislation in New ’ Zealand have left the worker where ;he was. He has no hesitation in : denying the statement that labour ■ has been the first to recognise the ■ betterment arising from the legis ; lation is a mere illusion. New Zealand passed through a depression during the last few years, and the enormous value of the regulation of industry in preventing the cutting down of wages is fully apprei ciated. No political party or sub- ; stantial section of New Zealand’s i community make suggestions for ; any industrial legislation to be re- ; pealed.
