NAPIER SOUTH SCHOOL.

There was a largr attendance of pupils, parents and friends at the Napier South School this morning, when the annual distribution of prizes took place. Mr R. Burne, Chairman of the School Committee, presided, and introduced the Mayor, who was to present the prizes. The Mayor was received with applause. He congratulated the School upon the excellent reports upon the School. He pointed out that the children had the advantage of teaching from highly trained teachers, and he urged the children to take every opportunity to learn all they could —after leaving school it was too late to do this> The presence of so many parents showed that the efforts of the staff were appreciated. Those who did not get a prize should not be downhearted, but try hard for next year The distribution of the prizes then took place. (The prize list will be published in to-morrow’s issue.)
