TEA TRADE. London, Dec. 14. (Received 15, 8.5 a.m.) Tea companies have risen from £23,000,000 to £30,000,000 since January. Common Indian and Ceylon teas are selling at 7}d per lb. The increase is attributed to Old Age Pensions and two good harvests in I Russia, both factors increasing tea ; consumption. Ceylon shipments ! last month decreased bj r 1,006,000 ] lbs. TALLOW. ! (Received 15, 8.45 a.m.) Sydney, Dec. 15. Air Coghlan, Agent-General, in a letter to the Government, declares he has personally inspected the handling of meat. The complaints made by Doctor Chappe! are without foundation. Specially constructed barges are used, and close supervision exercised, ensurin; cleanliness. FROZEN MEAT. The C.C. and D. Company, Limited, London, have to-day cabled the following report on the frozen meat market: —“To-day’s prices are as follows : —Canterbury mutton, 4|d; Napier, AVellington, and North Island mutton, 3jjd; beef, hindquarters, 3RI; forequarters, 2fd.
