The score stood at seven wickets for 146. PLAY RESUMED. (Received 14, 9.35 a.m.) Sydney. December 14. A thunderstorm has cleared the atmosphere*, and there is bright sunshine this morning, with every prospect of play. PLAYERS CRITICISED.

The “Telegraph” states that the Test Match has clinched the claim advanced on behalf of Faulkner. He is the most reliable, if not the most brilliant batsman of the South African team, and has the temperament of a Test match

Regarding Schwarz, lie is the true exponent of ” googlie ” bowling. and breaks up the leg-break ac t ion. If he would only mix a few leg-breaks with the same action, he would lie the greatestbowler in the world. Cotter’s return to form has caused general comment. It is stated that he is indulging in vigorous training, which accounts for his splendid condition. He is

bowling as fast as ever, keeping a good length direction.
