CORRESPONDENCE.
THE RIGHTS OF WORKERS. ! (To the Editor.) : Sir, —1 notice a paragraph in last. ’ night’s paper that Mr. Gohns is reported to he interfering with the > co-operative system of piece work iin Hastings. It appears to me that : when men are making more than tbe> i average wage, he comes upon the : scene and endeavours to compel ; them to work for lower wages. In I my opinion it is high time that this s I kind of inspection is altered by I law, so that men who are willing to ‘ work on the co-operative principle j may do so, and eatn more than they I would on day wages. Our industri- - I ous system seems to be always in | opposition to the inspector’s views, and the Magistrate to be tfie onlyj remedy he can think of. Surely a... ! conference of workers and omplot : ers would have a better effect than- ! all this legal and vicious I—l am. etc., ’Ua-fft BRI Tr,SIRTAWs>LAYI"’ z .'
