The fine Band of the Napier Vol tin teer Artillery will (weather permitting) give one of their popular open-air concerts on the green opposite the Herald office to-morrow (Wednesday) evening, commencing at 8 o'clock. In the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning there was one case of drunkenness. The offender was dismissed with a reprimand. The discovery of alluvial gold on the East Coast (reported in the Auckland papers) turns out to be premature. A few men are working at Tairua, getting little better than the color'.
Yesterday (29th mst.) was the 32nd anniversary of the Colony of New Zealand. The annual regatta at Auckland was to have been held on that day. •-
