LOCAL INTELLIGENCE
Consequent on the expected arrival of steamers on Sunday and Monday, and in order to place our Country Subscribers in possession of the Latest Intelligence, we have withheld our Supplementary Half-sheet till Monday, the Gth inst., when it [will be Issued in time for the inland mails. Napier Militia and Volunteers. —His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to make the following appointments'[in the Napier Militia : —Lieutenant Henry Robert Russell to be Captain, date of commission 19th May, 1864; Ensign James Nelson Williams to be Lieutenant, date of commission 19th May 1864 ; William Routledge to be Ensign, date of commission, 19th May, 1864. Captain George Sisson Cooper, Waipawa Cavalry Volunteers, is to be considered on the unattached list. Arrival of Troops.— The screw steamer Alexandra arrived hist evening'about 7 p.m. from Auckland, bringing 200 men of the 14th Regt. She left last Saturday afternoon, and has had a very rough passage. The headquarters and 100 more men were to follow in another steamer shortly. Amongst the officers is Lieut. Langtree, who left here some 9 or 10 months ago for the front. The men will be landed to-day.
