HAWKE’S BAY STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY.
A Meeting of the Provisional Committee of the Hawke’s Bay Steam Navigation Company, Limited, called pursuant to notice, was held on Saturday evening last, within the chambers of Messrs. Kinross & Co., at half-past two p.m. Present—D. Gollan, T. P. Russell, J. Anderson, Samuel Begg, J. G. Gordon, D. M'Lean, F. Sutton, H. S. Tiffen, J. Wilkinson, John Chambers, and J. G. Kinross, Esquires. The following resolutions were passed—1. Moved by Mr. Begg and seconded by Mr. M'Lean— That Mr. Gollan take the chair. 2. Moved by Mr. Begg and seconded by Mr. Tiffen— That the gentlemen present and others who have intimated their intention of joining them do form themselves into an association under the title of the Hawke’s Bay Steam Navigation Company, Limited; and that in the meantime they subscribe a schedule with the number of shares attached to their names which they propose to take in the Company. 3. Moved by Mr. M‘Lean and seconded bv Sir. Begg— That the following gentlemen be requested to form a sub-committee for the purpose of enquiring into and reporting within ten days to a general meeting of the subscribers the most suitable sort of steamer to be ordered for the Company, and also as to the desirability of chartering a steamer for commencing operations on the part of uie Company;—Messrs. Tiffen, Gollan, Ghsis^ o1 * 0 Begg, Murray, and Kinross —Also, that Mr7iv r iison be requested to act as solicitor, and Mr. Kinross as convener and secretary. 4. Moved by Mr. Begg and seconded by Mr. Gordon — That Captain Carter and Messrs. Wilkinson and Anderson be requested to act as trustees to receive the deposits and payments of the shareholders and that the secretary pay into Bank in their names the sums received by him. 5. Proposed by Mr. Wilkinson and seconded by Mr. Gordon — That the proceedings of the meeting he advertised in the local papers, and that the thanks of the meeting he tendered to Mr. Kinross for the trouble he has taken iu the promotion of the objects of the Company. 6. Proposed by Mr. Gordon and seconded by Mr. Russell— That the thanks of the meeting ho tendered to Mr. Gollan for his kind services and conduct in the chair. (Signed) Donald Gollan, Chairman.
