Our latest news from Invercargill is up to the 22nd of June. The Southern News is chiefly filled with articles on tho best method of disposing of the public land. Dr. Menzios, who is mentioned ns the probable future superintendent, and who was one of the cliicf agitators for separation, has proposed to alter the existing regulations. His proposition has met with determined opposition, on tiie ground that the proposed alterations are all in favour of the runhohlers. The elections for the Provincial Council had not taken place. Ko other news of interest from this, the youngest Province of New Zealand. Plenro-Pneumonia has broken out in the province of Otago. Cattle belonging to cloven different persons had been inspected by Mr. J. W. Moorhonsc. Ten bead had died of the disease, and twenty-two cases are reported, three of which had been shot.
