We have been requested to call attention to the want of a better system of notifying the time at which mails close. As, after a mail has been stated to close at a certain hour, the vessel intended to convey such mail may be detained through stress of weather or some other cause, it is right the public should be made acquainted with the further time allowed in the best possible manner. It has been suggested to us that a black board, erected somewhere near the Post Office, whereon might be, written in chalk the time when each mail closes, and altering as required, would be of great service to the public.
