RABBIT PEST.
MARLBOROUGH EXHIBITION
[PMSS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. A deputation from Hawke’s Bay, consisting of Messrs Tansoy, Bowen, McLean and Somerville waited on the Minister for Lands to-night, and protested against legislation such as proposed in Sir William Russell's Rabbit Nuisance Act Amendment Bill. The deputation urged that if the law was to be amended, the scheme pronsed by small settlers and approved the Hawke’s Bay Rabbit Board should be adopted. Mr. Duncan replied that there would be no change in the law this session. He would examine the scheme proposed, and possibly a local bill could be drafted suitable to Hawke’s Bay.
