He admitted that there was nothing on the Government programme this session to take exception to, Mr Reid had declared war on the Labour party. (Received September 21, 1.7 a.m.) BRISBANE, Tuesday. Parliament will open to-morrow. The forecast of the Governor’s Speech declares that legislation is necessary to make the revenue approximate to the expenditure. Rigid economy is necessary if no fresh burdens are to be imposed. It is intended to re-impose the income tax with an exemption up to £100; the tax to be made to bear more equitably than at present. There is no ground for ticking a gloomy view of tbe condition of tbe State. There is a noticeable improvement in the productive industries. The sugar crop promises to be one of the best ever produced. Cheap lines of railway to assist the agricultural and mining industries are promised. THE PLAGUE, j BRISBANE, Tuesday.
