BILLS OF LADING.

[press association.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday Legislation was passed last session providing that if bills of lading contained certain provisions they should be null and void unless a court of justice should adjudge the same to be reasonable. This provision, however, docs not carry weight when contracts are made outside the colony. With a view to having this remedied, the Wellington Chamber of Commerce to-day decided to communicate with Chambers of Commerce in Australia suggesting that they should advocate the adoption of similar legislation in the Commonwealth, with the idea of ultimately appealing to the Imperial Government to pass a corresponding enactment.
