ORMONDVILLE
[OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Mr J. D. Watson presided at a fully attended committee meeting of the Norsewood Horticultural and Industrial Society held on Thursday evening. The secretary read a statement of accounts in connection with the recent show, which showed total receipts, including balance of £7 7s fid from previous year, £B2 3s 2d. Messrs Watson, Campbell and Martin were appointed a sub-committee to allot prizes. A hearty vote of thanks to the ladies for their assistance was carried by acclamation. The ordinary weekly parade of the Ormondville Union Rifles was held on Thursday evening, at which Staff Ser-geant-Major M'Nair was present. During the evening a letter was read from the officer commanding the district notifying the company that tile battalion with the exception of Ashurst, Dannevirke and Ormondville, would along with other battalions, form a defending force against an imaginary enemy attacking Wellington during the Easter holidays, and suggesting that these three companies have an Easter encampment of their own at Dannevirke, a suggestion which met with mx response from the company.
