SOCIALISM AND WAR.
(Received March 9, 0,13 a.m.) LONDON, March 8. Herr Bebel created a sensation in the German Reichstag during the debate on the Army Estimates. Replying to the taunt that the Social Democrats were a disturbing factor in the army, he declared that if the country’s existence was at stake every Social Democrat would shoulder a rifle to defend the Fatherland to the last breath. His speech shows an opportunist trend, marking the gradual evolution of the party.
