DANNEVIRKE.
[OWN OOBBBBPONDINT.] Mr W. Dobson, who has resigned from Mr W. Rose’s employ to accept a position on Mr A. L. Gordon’s staff, is making a brief visit to Gisborne. At the Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning, before Mr Turnbull, S.M., Timothy Smith, for the theft of a cheque of the value of £2 from the Post-master-General, was committed to the Supreme Court, Napier, for trial. Mrs Allardice has given the borough two acres of land as a roadway to the site purchased for sie local abattoir. A site has been prepared at Tepapakuku for the erection of an isolation ward in case of an outbreak of smallpox.
