A NARROW ESCAPE. MELBOURNE, Monday. During a gale three visitors engaged in fishing near Beaumaris had a thrilling experience. They entered a cave with their boat to shelter and found themselves trapped and unable to get the boat out. One of them managed to reach the entrance to the cave, and climbed the cliff, fils comrades were eventually hauled by ropes up the face of the cliff.
DOMESTIC TRAGEDIES. ' SYDNEY, Monday.
A young married woman named Bennett, and her three children, were found dead near Singleton. It is supposed that the mother poisoned the children and then herself.
A domestic tragedy is repotted from Waterloo. James Minehan killed his wife with an axe, and was arrested in the street when attempting to cut his throat. His injuries are not serious. The accused had been drinking heavily lately.
SEVERE STORM. ADELAIDE, Monday. A severe storm was experienced on Saturday and Sunday. It wrecked the baths at Glenelg, and did considerable damage among the small boats. Heavy floods occurred inland.
LIVE STOCK M4RKET. SYDNEY, Monday. At the Homebush sales to-day, sheep were firm. Best wethers 19s to 20s, good 17s fid to 18s Cattle values improved. , Best bullocks £ll to £12165, good £10; cows, best £8 to £8 16s, good £7 10s.
