ANTHRAX OUTBREAK.

Invercargill, Wednesday.

Two more cows have died at Woodlands from anthrax. The outbreak has been traced to bones brought to the Bluff by the steamer Aparima from India, and the cause and effect have been more clearly demonstrated than in any previous outbreak in the colony; Bigs containing the bones were placed in a line in tbs paddock where the cattle were grazing and some of the contents were spilt on the grass. The bones may have been licked np or taken direct from the bags. A sample of the bones has bean forwarded to Mr Gilruth. A portion of the consignment was steamed in India and the balance here, bnt not thoroughly.
