HASTINGS TRAINING NOTES. [By "Early Bird.”] The weather yesterday morning was beautifully mild and springlike, and trainers got to business early. The first to set the ball tolling were Kowhete and Catspaw, with a sevenfurlong gallop, the former finishing in front. Sirius galloped a mile and a quarter* Shackle bringing him homo over the last five furlongs. They finished together. Creusot and Liquefy ran together six furlongs, and finished together. Eland was restricted to easy pace work. Comfort and la ran a mile together, the latter having slightly the best of it. Drakensberg light work. Rubin and Meta M’Carthy did serviceable work over three circuits. Stepdaughter was set a similar task. Cobra and Master Model went once round over the hurdles, the first-named having much the best of it. Phellbaok was given a conple of good useful rounds. Baldie and Modesty went ones round in fair time, The Phantom was given strong work, Abergeldie and The Gryphon went together once round over tha hurdles, and finished well together. Ballyneety ran once round, this being the fastest gallop of the morning. S. Waddell was down exercising his two-year-olds at the barrier. J, Maher was doing the same with his youngsters. fitarsboot, Melodeon, and Captain Kettle, Mr Watt's two-year-olds, were associated for a half mile Sutter, Melodeon finishing slightly in front.
