February 24, 1902. q he annual pionio given by Miss Paterson to the children attending the Sundayschool took place on Saturday afternoon, and needless to say, was largely patronised. The afternoon was spent most enjoyably in the bush, where games, races, &0., were indulged in, after which tho youngsters did full justice to an excellent tea, which had been provided. Later on a move was made to Canon Webb’s residence, Where prizes were distributed. A cricket match between the Makokutu and Ormondville district schools was played at Makotukn on Saturday, which resulted in a win for the visitors by 11 pans.

The Makotokn school committee met on Saturday evening, when correspondents was received from the Matamau and Ormondville schools ri proposed excursion to Napier, the former guaranteeing 100 children, the latter thinking it too near the holidays tor another break in the work. No reply had been received from Norsewood. The secretary had been instructed to write again, asking if they were willing to join in an exouision about the middle of March. Accounts amounting to £1 11s were passed for payment. Messrs Smith and Pike were appointed Visiting Committee for the ensuing month.

The cricket and sports clubs having agreed to co-operate with theOrmondville Domain Board in improving the Recreation Ground, a joint committee meeting will meet in the Library oa Friday evening to discuss the best means of raising the needful. The Town Board is also to be asked to take part. The following eleven will represent the Ormondville Cricket Club in a match to -be played against Danevirke on Wednesday :—flTFarlane (captain), Robertson, Fayen, C. Englebretsen, Hutton, Baff, Warmington, Chadwick, J. West, F. Drake, and W, G. Callender.

In the return tennis match to be played at Ashley-Clinton on Saturday, Makotuku will bo represented by Mrs Cantwell, Misses F. Sugden, Ellingham, and Burgoyne, and Messrs Beckett, Webster, Sugden, and W. G. Callender.
