Messrs Abraham and Williams, Limited, of Palmerston North, report as follows At Levin last Friday we had a good yarding of both sheep and cattle. There was a brisk demand for all classes of stock, and a total clearance was the result. At Palmerston on Thursday we had a full yarding of cattle and an average entry of sheep. Bidding for cattle was brisk throughout the sale, and only two pens were turned out unsold. A clearance was also effected with the sheep, with the exception of the line of forward wethers. Quotations. —At Levin, 2 to 3 1 -year steers £4 12s 6d to £4 15s, 2-year do £3 18s, store cows £2 2s 6d to £3, cows in calf £4 to £4 ss, heifers in milk £3 17r 6d, yearlings .£1 11a to £ll3s, weaners£l 2a to £1 4b, heifers in calf £3 to .£4 ss, 2-tooth wethers 8a Cd, do ewes 8s 6d, lambs 2s (id, 3s 4d, 3s lOd, 4s, 5s 3d, fat arid forward ewes 7s 9d, cull do 3s to 4e 3d.

At Palmerston.—2.\ to 3 year steers £5 4s to £5 9s 6d, 18-month to 2-year steers £3 4,3, yearling steers £2 3s, weaner steers 30s 6d, 18-month and 2-year heifers in calf £3 8s to £3 10s, 15 to 18 month empty heifers £2 10a to £2 19a 6d, yearling heifers £2 2s 6d, fat heifers £5 7s to £C 123 6d, fat cows £4 6s to £5, good weacers 25s to 30s, others 18a to 24-3, store cows £2 2a to £3 15s, bulls 37s to £3 Is, lambs 5s 8d to 7s, others 3s lid to 5a 3d, sound mouth store ewes 6s 6d, fat ewes 8s 3d, store wethers 10s. MR ROSE’S SALE. Mr W. Rose reports on his Weber sale> on January 22nd, as follows:—There was a good entry of both sheep and cattle. The attendance of buyers clearly demonstrated to settlers in tbo district that purchasers would attend if the number of stock advertised offered sufficient inducement. Competition was good and a satisfactory sale resulted. Prices ruling were slightly better than at larger centres. Figures obtained were Cattle: 3-year steers £4 12s, 2-year do £3 10s, yearlings £2 Is, forward cows £3 10s 6d, fat cows .£5 2s, yearling lull .£3 15s. Sheep: Stock wethers 7s 9d to 9s, forward fat ewes and wethers 8s 6d to 9s, ewes (mixed ages) 8s 6d. Hacks from £6 to £l4.
