HASTINGS.
[FROM ODR OWN OOIIEESrONDENT.'I January 2 t, 1902. At the Hastings Magistrate’s Court this morning, .before Messrs Dennett and M’Leod, J’a.P,, Hori Pirehu was charged (1) with stealing a saddle, value £3, the property of W. Duncan; (3) with stealing a set of harness. value JIB, the property of Tere Hamara,- and (3) uKth stealing a horse, value J!5, from Waipatu pa. hj coused pleaded guilty to the first two charges, and was fined (1) Jio or a month’s imprisonment, (2) J!7 or six weeks’ imprisonment. On the third charge prisoner pleaded not guilty, and on tho application of tho police was remanded to appear on Tuesday next.
Mr K. Sowerahy, auctioneer, Hastings, reports having sold eight acres of land, together with a nine-roomed house thereon, situate in Karamu-road, Hastings, to Mr K. M’Gaffm at a satisfactory figure.
