The as. Tangaroa was to leave at midnight last night tor Wairoa, The Union Company’s s.s. Tarawera arrived from the North at 5 a.m. yesterday and left at 2 p.m. for Southern ports. The Union Company’s s.s. Hawea arrived from Southern produce ports at 5 p.m. yesterday and berthed at the breakwater. She has 300 tons to discharge and leaves at 11 o’clock this morning for Auckland.

The Union Company’s s.s.Moura is due this forenoon from Southern ports and leaves the breakwater at 5 p.m. for Northern ports. The M, Weka leaves for Moeangiangi at 10 o’clock this morning. The work of discharging the damaged cargo from the Waimate it being proceeded with as well as can be expected. The wool is in a terrible state, being covered with tallow. She is expected to get away (or Auckland on Thursday. The Cantiver Navale shipbuilding yard at Falmero, which has just been completed and is ready for work, is said to be one of the finest and most complete in the world. It has five slips, each with stone foundations. These slips vary from 328 ft to 520 ft in length, and provision has been made for lengthening the S2oft slip to 665 ft. The yard is provided with the newest and up-to-date machinery required in the construction of ships. The greater put of the plant is of British manufacture, and there is a Scotch technical director. There are hydraulic riveters from Great Britain, electric motors from Austria, hydraulic and compressed sir motors from the United Kingdom, steam motors of Italian construction, woodworking machinery from Francs, locomotive cranes from the United Kingdom, and rivet and bolt manufacturing machinery bom Germany.
