December 3,1901. Ihe usual monthly meeting of the Hastings Fire Brigade was held this Captain Brauaohe in the chair. , B . waa sleeted a working member of the brigade. The captain reported two more fires since the last meeting, and the treasurer stated that there was a credit of £8 4s 3d to general account, and debit of £39 8s to guarantors’ account. Accounts amount to £3 2s were passed for payment. The following officers were reelected for the ensuing year:—Captain, C. T. Brausohe; Lieutenant, W. Keith. Several nominations were also received f° r t the other offices in the brigade, for which an election takes place at the next monthly meeting. Lieutenant Keith was presented with a two years’ service bar. A meeting of the shooting committee of the Hawke’s Bay Mounted Rifles was held at the Pacific Hotel this afternoon, Lieutenant Canning in the chair, when it was agreed to hold the annual shoot on Boxing Day. Matches were arranged for ladies, honorary members, and members. Lieutenant Gordon was appointed range officer, and Lieutenant Canning handicapper and trench officer. Mr E. Soworsby, auctioneer, Hastings, reports having bold a sale of cattle on Saturday, at which he realised prices up to £5 15s for heifers, and £7 10s for cows. Ono acre and 21 polos of land, situated in Alexandor-street, Hastings, with a tworoomed whare thereon, was also sold for £Bl.
