Tuesday, Jolt 17. The Counoil met at 2.30. CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE. Petitions against the Chambers of Commerce and Mines Registration Bill were presented from the Canterbury Ghamber of Commerce and others interested in commerce in that district, from the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, and from 2670 persons in Auotland province interested in mercantile pursuits. PAHIATUA OASWORKS. The Pahiatua Gasworks Bill was read a second time on the motion of the Hon. W. 0, Smith. The debate on tlio second reading of tho Chambers of Commerce and Mines Registration Bill was resumed. After debate, an amendment by the Hon. G. M'Lean, that the bill be read a second timo six months henco, waa carried by 17 votes to 10. The Council rose at 4.40 p.m.
