STRANGE DEATH.
[BY TEIiEGBAPH.] Dunedin, Tuesday. A death under somewhat singular circumstances occurred at St. Clair beach this afternoon. John Heartly, a seaman, was seen to undress opposite the Esplanade and go into the water. He rolled about amongst the eurf and than stood up. He was seen apparently to fall down, and the rollers curried him on to the beach. Wheu examined life was not extinct, but before Dr. Watt could arrive from Forbury camp the man was dead. He had been employed lately as a nightwatchman on the steamer Bimu, and had been drinking somewhat heavily.
