Inepeotor Woof reports : — Makaretu, aoross Inglis's hill to Surveyora'-flat, on Government landonTuki Tuki; several traces. Manga-te-wai" seotion, behind To Ohu, Beveral traces on riyer bed. Traces on spur on Williams's seotion. Over part Black's, killed rabbit in bush near boundary. With Inspector Harvey to Bange, Pringle having gone- on with store, &o.| thick on top. Along part Norsewood spur past Thomson's oainp, oo signs here or on long spnr between Tuki Tuki and Moorcock's creek to turn off for lower camp. This was original rabbit ground of range j last poisoning seems to have cleared them out. Along range northwards past Howlett's whare, several traces in scrub from Orua saddle to Parkes' Peak killed rabbit under Peak'B, and saw another. Traces to top of Kawhatau ridge. Heavy gale, and weather very thick. Had to return to main whare. Went south, along range to point between Tinnore and Sheba's Breast, then down spur to Orua river. Numerous traces in scrub (Damnatalis) below tussock Hue, and above birch bußh. Dogs get on to rabbits, but too rough to see result. Foli lowed down to Orua river, having no tent ■ or blanket pushed on to settlement, arriv- , ing 10 p.m. Settlors here have never seen L rabbits. On return drove abouteight miles . and walked till night through fairly open E bush until we struck old survey line. . Camped by fire for the night. Got to sorub near top 8.30 next a.m. Traces , numerous, and all fresh along to Sheba. , Camped again. To camp at Saddle, found . slight old traces all along top ridge. , Lower whare at night. Babbits seem a located on all spurs leading off high tops 8 at edge of scrub, left by rabbits passing from spur to spur. Eecommends that a „ further inspection be made of Kawatau r Spur a'ong to Inland Patea and end of !( High Spur above Delaware block.
