The New South Wales Lancers were, accorded an enthusiastic Bend-off at Alderahot. Major-General Trotter.com. tnanding the Home district, and Colonel Herbert (Grenadier Guards) met the squadron at Waterloo station and marched afoot with them: The streets were crowded like on a Lord Mayor's day, and traffic was stopped. The Lord Mayor received the troops at the Mansion House. In a speech he commended their heroio determination to support the Empire. The crowd was wildly enthusiastic, and sang the "National Anthem," "Eule Britannia," and " Soldiers of the Queen." Lords Hampden and Carrington took farewell at Fenchurch-street station. The Daily Chronicle states that 26 of the Lanoera refused to volunteer. Sir- Julian Salomons, interviewed, said that the statement waa absolutely false, aa all of the men were burning to go. The magnificent reception accorded to the men waa proof of the solidarity of the Empire.
