HASTINGS SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the Hastings Sohool Committee was held last night. Present — Mesara Maddison (chairman), Collinge, Pail, M'Quillun, Boss, Tickner, and Cook. The headmaster reported that owing to sickness, chiefly measles, the attendance had been greatly reduced, but that it had recovered, and from this week the usual notices would be issued to the truant officer. — He asked that certain requirements be attended to in connection with the sohool buildings, and enclosed cheque, £6 7b, stationery fees. — Accounts passed for payment, £5 14s 9d. — It was decided to have repairs done to school and the master's house. — A letter was received from the Eduoation Board stating that at present the Board had no funds to provide extra ground at the school, but the matter would be considered in October with other proposed grants, — Mr Morgan wrote as to a complaint of the non-attendance of his child. This was referred to the headmaster.— An application was received from Mr A. Collinge for tho position of trainee, and was referred to tho headmaster for report. —Messrs Cook and Pail were appointed visiting committee for the month.
