MORE ABOUT WET AS.

Dear Editor,— Since last I wrote I've gained some information About the insnot I held up To general reprobation. I mean the awful weta. You do not often met a Creature so full of spite and bite As the rnmbumptious weta. Of all the forma of insect life It would be hard to beat a Creature so formed for deadly strife As is the savage weta. The hopping 1 , clinging weta ; The fighting, biting weta. Both man and maid are sore afraid Of the prawnyidus weta. The things were sent alive from far j I scanned all their demerits ; Then Tyerman filled up the jar With mythelated sperrits. Who killed those horrid weturs, You should have seen their features When fell " D.T." had seized on the Alcoholiferous weturß. If you should meet one in the bush, Pray give it quick the go-by, Lest on you it should chance to rush, And give youhydrophoby. Oh ino9t maliflc weta ! 'Twould surely be discreter To dwell upon a monntain top, Than near the baleful weta. But if for curiosities You are a keen competer, Just seek the lair where hidden lies The hardbitiferous weta Then mesmerise your weta. And yon'll ne'er taste a sweeter Joy than when you have bottled up That horny, saw-legged weta. I'm told some grow five inches long, With mouths and claws horrific, And then these wretches come it strong In doings un-pacific, Oh most pestifferous weta ! Oh Krugeriferous weta ! Words cannot tell the doings fell OE the gigantiferouß weta. Note. — For the valuable scientific information contained in this poem I shall expect to be elected an honorary member of the Hawke's Bay Philosophical Institute. H. H. Murdoch.
