She leaves again for Wairoa to-night at . midnight. The s.s. Ahuriri went across the bay on Saturday to Mohaka and Waikare, and .returned to port yesterday afternoon. 1 Captain Tonking reports landing all his -cargo and brought .off some wool and .-skins. . The B.s. .Weka Bteamed for coast stations on Saturday night. The s.s. Kahu will probably leave Wellington to-night for Napier.--The Union Company's s.s. Mapouriki arrives this morning from Gisborne and ■Auckland, and is advertised to leave the 'breakwater for Wellington and Southern ports at noon. The Union Company's s.s. Mawhera " .arrives this morning from Northern ports, ■■ ; 'and will berth at the breastwork. She v- has 75 tons cargo to land, and leaves for . ■. Jfallington at noon. Union Company have sold the s.s. Beautiful Star to a Taßmanian firm for employment in the Huon fruit and passenger trade. ',' Another new cargo steamer has been launohed for the Shaw, Savill, and Albion . ..Shipping -Company. She is called the Karamea, and is of 5750 tons register. She is for the New Zealand frozen meat trade, and has capacity in the refrigerat- . ing chambers for 100,000 carcases of mufc- ' Jim. - Fending the arrangement 'of a Goyernmeut subsidy for a direct cargo service to the Cape, the Shaw, Savill and Albion 'Company, in conjunction with the New - .Zealand Shipping Company, have decided to try as an experiment a trip of the s.s. Eangatira, leaving the colony about the middle of this month. The rates' will be : -for frozen meat Jd, butter in boxes id per lb, cheese 60s, preserved meats 455, wheat :D6s, oats 40s per ton, with 10 per cent . .primage, 5 per cent of which, will be returned.
