TERRIBLE ACCIDENT.

London, May 4.

A well-known athlete and acrobat named Hardy met with a terrible acoident at the Alexandra Palace yesterday. Hardy, who is a clever rope walker, was giving a performance on the high rope within the palace. To conform to the law a net was stretched below the rope along its entire length. Daring- the performance Hardy stumbled. He made a desperate attempt to recover his balance, but fell headlong. After falling about a hundred feet he struck the net, which it was thought would save him, but the impetus caused him to crash right through the meshes, which broke, and he fell into the stalls. When picked up he was found to bo soribUßly injured.
