The following correspondence was read md dealt with : — Clive, recommending Herbert Benson be appointed pupil teacher, and Wi Hapi trainee. — Approved. Danevirke, asking for more accommodabion. — Deferred. Gisborne, recommending Miss Faram be appointed third assistant, and Miss Lewis second mistress. — Approved. Giaborne High School Governors, guaranteeing for assistant mistress. — Applications being invited. Giaborne, asking for £5 to repair cubtodian's house.— Granted. Havelock, intimating half an acre had been purchased for £35 for school purposes, and asking the Board to purchase an acre next to the school. — Fifty pounds offered. Kumeroa, applying for J620 towards drainage work. — Mr Miller reported that if the County drains were kept open very little expense would be required. — Waipawa County Council to be communicated with. Napier, stating that the committee had no recommendation to make re Mrs Barnett's absence. — Eeceived. Same, asking what the position was in respect to acquiring the section opposite the infant school. — No reply had yet been received from the Department. Porangahau, a complaint that the school building Was left open day and night during the vacation. — The master reported that the secretary lived alongside the school, and could vouch for its safe keeping.— Explanation deemed satisfactory. Te Karaka, asking for .£IOO more to build school house. — Government to be asked to assist, as half the children were natives. Taradale, re Mr M'Cutcheon's appointment to assistant mastership, having passed the necessary examination.—Applications to be invited. Te Tere (between Wimbledon and Weber), asking for an aided school. — Not sufficient children, as there must be 10 of an average of school age. Woodville, re condition of master's residence. — Mr Miller to report. Same, pointing out that the proposed shelter ahed would be too small. — Deferred. Education Department, approving oi teachers' regulations. Audit Department, forwarding Board's accounts audited and correct. Treasury, capitation ullowance, .£845 6e 3d. MISCELLANEOUS. Mr G. P. Donnelly is to be written tc as to the Omahu school, matters at preBent being in abeyance owing to the natives declining to grant the use of i building at Omahu. A number of amendments suggested bj the chairman in the training school r& gulations were discussed at some length and agreed to. Mr M'Lernon was re-elected a governoi of the Napier High School. Seven o'clock was fixed as the hour foi the annual meeting of householders t< meet in connection with the ensuing elec tion of school committees. Dr. Sidey and Mr Tanner were ap pointed School Coinmiasioners. The annual report from the Inspects was received and authorised to be sent oi to the Department. The Board's yearlj report was also furnished by the secre tary. The Wanganui Education Board for warded a letter asking for suggestions ii altering the bye-laws, to be discussed at £ conference to be held in Wellingtor during the session of Parliament— De ferred until next meeting. Various recommendations by severa school committees for the appointment o: teachers were approved. The tender of William Skeet (£169 105, was accepted for the addition to thi Ormond school. Vouchers amounting to .£I9OB 16s 7t were passed for payment. The Board then adjourned.
