ACCIDENT TO A FRENCH BATTLESHIP.

STRANGE ACTION OF A SAILOR. Beceived March 14, 9.45 a.m. Paris, March 13. One of the battleships lying in the harbor of Brest had a narrow escape from foundering yesterday. A sailor engaged below accidentally or in a spirit of curiosity turned on one of the seacocks below the water line for flooding purposes in case of fire, and became so terrified by the sudden inrush of water that he fled panic-stricken to the deck. Before it was known what had happened the vessel was in danger of sinking, and the divers sent down to close the cock were only just in time to prevent that disaster happening.
