UNION COMPANY APPOINTMENTS.
Captain Shaw, late of the Kia Ora, ook charge of the Omapere on Monday, and Captain Adams, for a considerable - time in command of the latter Bteamer, left for Auckland the same day in charge, of the cargo steamer Poherua. Captain M'Donald has received orders to proceed to headquarterßj where he will probably resume his duties ashore under Captain Strang. Captain Butter, formerly chief officer and for a time commander of the Foherna, has been appointed to the Herald, vice Mr Watson. Captain Crawshaw is to have command of the Manapouri, with .Mr Holford as chief and Mr Tullock as second officer. The steamer is announced to leave Auckland for Tonga and Suva on April sth. Mr Stewart, late acting chief officer of the Waikare, resumed the chief officerßhip of the Kotorua - yesterday. Mr R. Packer, late of the Ohau, "is now chief engineer of the Pukaki, Mr Miller, second engineer, who has been temporarily occupying the higher position, having resumed his former duties
