THE TOURNAMENT. WANGANUI CLUB LEADING. [PROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] [BY TELEGRAPH.] Wang an vi, Wednesday. The champion fours bowling tournament was continued to-day in perfeot weather. The Napier team (Yateß, Shirley, Gilberd, and Evans) defeated the Palmerston North team by 15 points to 11, and the Auckland team by 19 to 15. In the latter game there was a tie at the last head, but in playing off Napier won with four points to spare. The Napier team were, however, defeated by Nelson and Wanganui each "by only one point. The match with Wanganui was undoubtedly the most interesting of the tournament, and was witnessed right through by a large crowd of spectators, who cheered the local men and the Napierites quite impartially, according to the merits of the play. At the twelfth head Napier had the record of eight points against five to the credit of Wanganui. At the last head they had the winning shot, when Kodwell, the Wanganui skip, carried the '* jack," and made the game nine all. In playing off Wanganui won the match amidst great cheering. The result of the two day's play as far as the Napier men are concerned is that they have won six matches and lost two. Wellington is in exactly the same position, whilst Wanganui has won seven matches with only one loss, and Feilding has won six games and secured a bye with one defeat. The Bluff Hill Club (Bristy, Crowley, Laing, and Tabuteau) played three matches to-day and won all three, defeating Carterton, Waverley, and Remuera. They have therefore won four matches, lost three, and secured a bye. The Hastings men to-day were defeated by Wellington and Waverley, but secured wins against Remuera and Carterton. The Danevirke men were defeated by Feilding and Thorndon, but they won against Newtown and Hawera. Tabuteau skipped the Bluff Hill team to-day in consequence of Laing feeling rather unwell, but Laing played in the team as Ko 3.
